Remarks by Major E.H. Cobb, Political agent, Gilgit;-

The opening of the Gilgit Jamatkhana was performed on Tuesday March 27^th 1945 by Raja Zafar Khan of Gilgit who kindly gifted the land on which it has been built in the presence of Major E.H.Cobb O.B.., Political Agent, Gilgit, British officers and officials of the Gilgit Agency as well as the Mir of Nagir and Rajas of Punial, Kuh Ghizar, Ishkoman, Yasin and a large number of persons from the Gilgit Agency.

All the guests were hospitably entertained with refreshments and a sumptuous” dawat” according to the custom of the Ismaili Sect.

It is hoped that this Jamat Khana, which has been completed after 5 years will fulfill a long cherished need of the followers of the Ismaili Sect at Gilgit. The successful completion of the work is entirely due to the strenuous and untiring efforts of the Nzim Kudratullah Beg of Hunza and Gilgit.
